Dr. Andreas Armuss
Chief Medical Officer Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (Life and Health)
Dr. Armuss has been working for MunichRe as a full-time medical consultant since October 2003. He studied medicine at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich from 1990 to 1996. Between 1996 and 2003 he worked at the University Hospital of Munich-Bogenhausen in the department of internal medicine and clinical immunology/rheumatology. He qualified as a specialist for internal medicine in 2003 and for rheumatology in 2005. After his role as a medical consultant in the head office in Munich between 2003 and 2017, he joined the regional Singapore office as the Chief Medical Officer for Asia, Pacific, Middle East and Africa.
Besides underwriting complex and rare substandard risks for life insurance markets around the world, he is also involved in medical claims handling and development of evidence-based underwriting guidelines. Monitoring medical advancements and the impact on the Life and Health insurance business has become an additional major task of his role. He presents and publishes the results of Munich Re’s medical research at international conferences.
